Marino Christmas Letter, 2013

Merry Christmas from the Marinos!
Just a quick update on the kids:

Ellie, 2, feels that Legos and rocks help make a well balanced diet. She loves purses, pretty dresses, and painting her face with lipstick. Overnight, she has changed from a baby to a little girl!


Natty, 5, learned to ride a two wheeler and how to swim this summer. He wants to be Thor when he grows up. He spends much of his time playing chess with his dad, drawing and getting into trouble.


Edith, 8, is writing her first novel. But when she's not working on that, she is reading, drawing, helping me with housework and the younger two kids, and growing up (too quickly).


Jared, 10, wants to be an inventor or an engineer. He says he needs a laboratory stocked with
electrical stuff, various liquids and some tools. When he is not daydreaming, he is drawing, reading and building space ships out of Legos.


 Yep, I'm having a lot of fun with these younger kids...



Margie, 13, started high school this year. When she is not solving complicated algebraic problems or reading Shakespeare, she keeps busy with piano and voice, and taking pictures of her cute younger brothers and sisters. And herself.


Lewis, 17, is really enjoying his new car. He says the sirens and lights are especially cool. He is also swimming on the swim team at the local high school, now that Ohio lets home educated kids participate in public school sports. When not swimming or engaged in police activities, he eats an alarming amount of food, and sleeps for an alarming amount of time.



Debbie, 18, started college this year and is studying hard and doing well. She is working at the YMCA as a guard and instructor, and also works for a performing arts school in the wardrobe department. But when she is not busy with all that, she is taking lovely pictures of animals, flowers and anything else that can sit still.


I'm busy enough taking care of my family, but when I do have a spare moment, I write or go for a run. Jay is a steadfast husband, without whom I would fall apart. I am so grateful for this man. Even though he makes faces at the camera. I am so grateful for these children, and they are not as ill-behaved as it seems...


It's been a good year. No trips to the hospital, no one threw up in the car, Jay still has a job, and I still have my sanity. But most of all, we have this time of year to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour; may He bless you and keep you now and always. Peace to you all-

             Christmas   Greetings from the Marinos! A few news items from our house: Deb officially adopted Gypsy and works at the barn for her room and board when she is not doing her paramedic job or making beautiful quilts. Sometimes she is working on our side of town and crashes at our place and then hangs out with us for a while. I love it when she does that! Lewis and Kaitlynn tied the knot just this month! We are all so happy for the newly wedded couple and thankful Kaitlynn is a part of our family. Margie and James and their passel of cats continue to live in warm, sunny AZ. Margie traveled to San Diego and also conquered her fear of flying alone and came to Cleveland for the wedding. Jared is working steadily toward his associates degree and continues to write, create, make music and entertain his siblings. He recently taught himself how to bind books, and he is becoming conversational in Italian.

Marino Natale 2022

 Greetings and salutations to all from the Marino Famiglia!  God has been good to us this year, as always. Here are some highlights: Deb has reached a new high (literally) in her career. She is currently in training as a critical care team medic with the Cleveland Clinic. She will have to work on the ground initially, but ultimately hopes to be in the sky. Here, she is training in the whirly bird! She also works at a farm where her horse, Gypsy lives. She recently gave us a tour of the farm and introduced us to many animals. Lewis graduated Trooper Academy near the top of his class and is loving his career in law enforcement as an Ohio State Trooper. Apparently, cars are not the only vehicle that Troopers are responsible for. Lewis made the front page of his local paper! Lewis also got a chance to ride up in the sky with some Troopers to see what it's like up there. (The plane below, is NOT the one he was riding in). Margaret moved to sunny Arizona in July and is enjoying the warm

  Merry Christmas to you all from the Marino Family! Let's get right to updates on the kids, shall we? In no particular order... Jared turned 18, graduated high school and after working his last summer as a lifeguard, secured a full time job at a locally owned service station, and bought a car! He decided a gap year would be a good idea, as he is not quite sure what he wants to do. He works a lot of overtime, creates digital music and is writing fiction. Natty turned 13, built a house in the backyard, loves creating with Legos and looking up words in an actual dictionary, and is almost as tall as I am! Did you think I was kidding about the house? He actually salvaged all the materials, even the working chimney. He is active in youth group at one church, and as a helper in children's church at another church. Margie, turned 21, and is living on her own. She is working at a daycare with 2-3 year olds and loves it. She says it is an amazing job! She is a natural with children, and
